Clinical Reformer Pilates
“Pilates is the complete coordination of body, mind and spirit” — Joseph Pilates
Here at Colab Health Group, we follow the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) method of Pilates, which is specifically designed by physiotherapists for use in the rehabilitation and wellness setting. Pilates is an exercise method that can be performed on a mat or on a reformer. A reformer is a spring loaded resistance machine to allow for ongoing progression of the desired exercises. At Colab Health Group, we utilise state of the art Allegro 2 Balanced Body reformers. Exercises will consist of strength, mobility and stretching based movements through a fluid and controlled manner. We aim to teach our clients to become aware of their body position, movement and function in a supportive and relaxing way. We also encourage clients to adopt these methods into their daily lives for maintaining high quality movement and for injury prevention.
We recommend Clinical Reformer Pilates for both clinical and wellness clients including Pre and Post natal women. If you are unsure whether Clinical Reformer Pilates is right for you, please feel free to contact us at hello@colabhealthgroup.com.au or call 9857 8791 to speak to one of our clinicians.
How to start Clinical Reformer Pilates at Colab Health Group?
New clients wishing to start a Clinical Reformer Pilates group will be required to participate in a 45min initial assessment by the physiotherapist (not required for existing clients). All clients will then undergo 2 x 30min one-on-one physiotherapy sessions to establish an individualised program focusing on client specific goals. In these sessions, we will focus on technique and knowledge of movements required for the group classes. Group classes will consist of a maximum of 3 participants, all with an individualised program. One-on-one sessions are also available at the cost of a standard physiotherapy consult. Your progress will be evaluated over the recommended treatment cycle, this may vary between each participant depending on fitness level, type of injury and personal goals for rehab and exercise.
